Distribution & Recycling Center Driver (DRC)

The Rescue Mission of Roanoke is a non-profit, faith-based, equal opportunity employer. The Distribution & Recycling Center Driver (DRC) serves to pick up donations from community partners and/or residents to be processed, sorted, and distributed to the appropriate location(s). Delivers donations to thrift stores for processing. Assist in the Distribution & Recycling Center (DRC) warehouse as needed. Must be able to drive a box truck and van.
Reports to: Director of Retail Operations
Hours of Availability: Full-Time with typical schedule between 8am – 5pm; Monday – Friday; weekends as needed
Location: Distribution & Recycling Center (warehouse setting)
Compensation: $16.97/hour (non-exempt/hourly)

Job specific qualifications:
- Valid driver's license.
- Motor Vehicle Record – minimal points are acceptable.
- Must be able to drive a box truck and van.
- Ability to use email, internal systems, and basic computer skills.
Career Summary (not all-inclusive list): DRC Drivers pickup donations from donors and deliver to the appropriate location. They provide proper maintenance of company vehicles; box truck and van. They must maintain a safe driving record during employment as a driver. They assist with processing donations that are collected at the DRC or from community partners/residents. They distribute receipts, coupons, flyers and maintain the cleanliness, safety and security of the warehouse. They sort, price, and assist volunteers and co-workers with processing of goods.
All Rescue Mission of Roanoke team members may be asked to complete other duties as assigned by the leadership/management. Expectation is to complete these assignments as requested.
Physical demands essential to performing the job duties of this position (not an all-inclusive list): Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing. Activity may include occasional stooping, twisting, turning, pushing, pulling. Prolonged computer use; computer screen exposure. Lift up to 50 pounds; not repetitive. Temperatures may vary depending on activity/events; indoor/outdoor exposure. Noise levels may vary depending on activity/event and/or location. Consistently - Communicating with others to exchange information. Frequent - Moving around to accomplish a task.

Since 1948, the Rescue Mission has continued a tradition of comprehensive care to those in crisis in our community. The homeless, the hungry, the chemically addicted, the impoverished and the hopeless have all found a warm welcome at the Rescue Mission.
Men, women and children have found a safe place and compassionate friends in their darkest moments. The Rescue Mission is open 24 hours/day and 365 days/year and provides food, clothing, shelter, an on-site clinic, Recovery Program, case management, and aftercare services. All people in crisis are served regardless of race, gender, creed, age, or ethnicity.
In addition, the Rescue Mission operates a Donation and Recycling Center, 2nd Helpings – Gallery and Shop, Thrift 460, and has an online store presence. All proceeds from sales benefit the programs of the Rescue Mission.
