Description
Position Summary:
Sapient Logic is seeking a Mid-Level DevSecOps & Automation Engineer to the Joint Fires Network (JFN) program in San Diego, CA. The DevSecOps/Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing automation frameworks that support software deployment and application lifecycle management across multiple environments. This role leverages GitOps and declarative programming principles to enable scalable, secure, and efficient CI/CD processes. The position collaborates with cross-functional teams and external application providers to ensure seamless integration, governance, and operational reliability of systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain automation to deploy and configure software applications using GitOps and declarative programming principles
- Support onboarding and promotion of applications across development, staging, testing, and production environments using CI/CD pipelines
- Establish and enforce governance processes for application promotion across engineering environments
- Identify gaps and inefficiencies in DevSecOps workflows and design scalable solutions to address them
- Coordinate with application providers to support integration and deployment of applications
- Automate configuration management processes and improve visibility into configuration status across environments
- Apply systems engineering principles to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability of IT systems
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure operational stability and system reliability
- Create, enhance, and maintain CI/CD pipeline automation using industry-standard tools
- Deploy and configure applications through automated pipelines
- Prepare detailed reports, technical documentation, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Information Technology, including systems engineering, DevSecOps, and application lifecycle management
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing automation using Ansible
- Proven expertise in managing application lifecycles across multiple environments (development through production)
- Demonstrated experience establishing governance frameworks for engineering environments
- Strong experience with configuration management, automation techniques, and system validation
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as ArgoCD, GitLab, Helm, and Kubernetes
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and their application in IT environments
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to leadership
- Familiarity with modern IT frameworks and methodologies such as Agile and ITIL
- Ability to align technical initiatives with business objectives
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in large-scale enterprise or government IT environments
- Advanced certifications in DevSecOps, cloud, or systems engineering
- Experience implementing GitOps frameworks at scale
Certifications & Clearance:

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
Schedule: 8 hour shift
