Max Pay Rate: $68.00/hr
Job Overview
This role is responsible for planning, designing, and executing key engineering aspects of large-scale energy storage projects. The Energy Storage Engineer provides technical leadership, engineering oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver best-in-class storage solutions.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth in energy storage or power systems, solid project execution skills, and brings hands‑on experience supporting projects from early design through completion.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design
Support the design phase and engineer major components for utility-scale energy storage projects
Identify inconsistencies in engineering drawings and take corrective action to improve design quality and efficiency
Review engineering studies, identify errors, and propose corrective and preventative solutions
Prepare technical scopes of work for engineering and equipment contracts
Project Execution & Coordination
Support projects from inception through completion in partnership with project managers
Influence project teams on technical and engineering-related decisions
Track project milestones, monitor risks, and flag technical issues
Stay informed on project status and actively resolve technical challenges
Equipment & Supplier Integration
Collaborate with suppliers to integrate major equipment and systems
Review specifications for major equipment purchases and ensure clear technical communication
Propose technical solutions related to system integration, controls, and performance
Permitting & Compliance
Understand permitting requirements and identify potential legal or regulatory challenges
Propose site design improvements to address permitting constraints
Collaboration & Travel
Work cross‑functionally with engineering, construction, project management, and external partners
Travel up to 25% for project‑specific support and in‑office collaboration
Perform additional duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
3+ years of experience in Solar/PV Engineering and/or Construction
Expertise in one or more of the following:
Battery energy storage system (BESS) design
Power electronics
Substation design
Generation tie design
Familiarity with energy storage technologies, including:
Lithium‑ion battery systems
Power conversion units (PCUs)
DC/DC converters
Working knowledge of energy storage safety standards:
UL 1973, UL 9540, UL 9540A
NFPA 855, NFPA 70E
NEC and applicable IFC/IBC codes
Familiarity with IEC standards:
IEC 61215, 61646, 61730
Ability to independently handle specialized technical tasks
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Job Location Preference
Juno Beach, FL strongly preferred
Open to remote candidates with strong qualifications who are willing to travel more frequently for in‑office collaboration
