Maintenance Electrician
Salary Range $34.00 - $38.00 Hourly Position Type Full Time Job Shift Day
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Electrician is a member of the Maintenance Team. The Maintenance Electrician ensures operation of production machinery and electrical equipment by troubleshooting, performing repairs and preventive maintenance in an effective, efficient and safe manner. Primary responsibilities for support are assisting in preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installation of plant equipment, machinery, and buildings in a safe and professional manner. Work within the guidelines of good manufacturing practices at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant electrical systems including motors, motor controls, MCCs, VFDs, sensors, and power distribution
- Diagnose electrical failures using schematics, meters, and logical troubleshooting methods
- Perform safe installation and modification of electrical equipment and wiring systems
- Support startup, shutdown, and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment
- Troubleshoot basic PLC and control system issues (I/O, power, communications, interlocks)
- Work with Maintenance Supervisor and Engineering on control upgrades and improvements
- Verify proper operation of interlocks, safeties, and sequencing systems
- Assist with integration of new equipment into existing electrical infrastructure
- Perform scheduled electrical PMs including inspections, testing, cleaning, and adjustments
- Identify early signs of electrical failure and recommend corrective actions
- Support reliability improvements by reducing repeat electrical faults and downtime
- Strictly follow Lockout/Tagout, arc flash, and electrical safety procedures
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, food safety requirements, and GMPs
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe electrical panels, MCC rooms, and work areas
- Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and electrical hazards immediately
- Accurately document labor, findings, repairs, and parts usage in the CMMS
- Update electrical drawings, panel labels, and equipment documentation as required
- Communicate recurring electrical issues or system risks to supervision
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with motors, motor starters, VFDs, MCCs, and power distribution
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment (basic troubleshooting level)
- Process-driven, logical problem solver
- Good computer skills and ability to work within a CMMS
- Must be proficient in reading, speaking and writing in English for the purpose of record keeping, safety and quality training processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical schooling, electrical certification, or apprenticeship preferred
Working Conditions:
- Available to work overtime including some weekends
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights up to 80 ft
- Clean, safe driving record.
- Able to work in all weather conditions
- Capable to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
