Tissue Culture Technician I

The Tissue Culture Technician I is part of a well-coordinated floriculture team and will support the cultivation of cannabis plants in an aseptic environment for commercial production. The ideal candidate will excel as a team member within a tightly controlled, state-regulated system and adhere to timelines and SOPs. Curio tissue culture techs must also focus on employee safety and maintain a very clean facility and lab.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support and assist in aseptic micropropagation methodologies for mass-scale clone production.
  • Collect nodal stem samples for use in micropropagation and tissue culture research of cannabis.
  • Record data in laboratory notebook and/or Excel.
  • Operation of laboratory equipment in a safe manner.
  • Assure cleanliness and organization of glassware, plasticware, and other supplies as needed.
  • Assure the cleanliness of the lab environment.
  • Maintain an organized work environment.
  • Ability to execute techniques consistently.
  • Properly document all applicable activities in accordance with standards set by the State and the company.
  • Learn new laboratory techniques and use new equipment with instruction.
  • Support other Applied Science activities

Ability to safely use sharp instruments. Willingness to work in tight spaces and loud environments. Ability to work around chemicals and fertilizers safely. Willingness to learn scientific concepts and use of scientific equipment. Ability to use sterile techniques.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
