Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the sterile processing department in a healthcare facility. Does this position require patient care? No. Essential functions include overseeing the daily operations of the sterile processing department, ensuring the timely receipt, inspection, decontamination, and processing of instruments and equipment, monitoring compliance with sterilization standards, coordinating and managing the inventory of sterile supplies, providing training, mentorship, and guidance to sterile processing technicians, and collaborating effectively with surgical teams, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure instrument availability and meet patient care needs.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No. Licenses and credentials: Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) preferred. Experience: Experience as a Central Sterile Technician, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience. 3-5 years required. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include in-depth knowledge of sterile processing principles, practices, and infection control standards, proficiency in handling instrument assembly, packaging, and sterilization processes, strong organizational and time management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines, and proficiency in computer systems and software used in sterile processing.
