Description
Collections Specialist
The Collections Specialist plays a key role in maintaining strong cash flow, ensuring accurate payment tracking, and supporting overall financial operations in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Review daily cash receipts and ensure accurate and timely posting of payments
- Handle missing payments, write-offs, and attorney appeal requests
- Track outstanding invoices and proactively follow up with clients, adjusters, and claim representatives
- Send overdue notices, reminders, and collection correspondence via email and phone
- Collaborate with attorneys and billing teams to manage appeals, deductions, and invoice corrections
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in ARCS and related systems
- Monitor flagged accounts and follow up to resolve outstanding balances
- Prepare reports and provide updates on collections and payment status
- Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and internal teams regarding payment inquiries
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong working relationships
- Assist in resolving billing discrepancies and payment issues
- Support process improvements and maintain internal procedures for collections workflows
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in collections, billing, or finance, preferably in a legal or insurance environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payment processing and reconciliation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word) and systems such as ARCS
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve discrepancies
- Customer service-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
- Collaborative team player with strong organizational and time management abilities
