Description
Job Summary - The Night Audit position checks the front office accounting records for accuracy and, daily, summarizes and compiles information for the hotel's financial records. This position is also responsible for tracking room revenue, occupancy percentages, and other front office operating statistics. Additionally, the Night Audit is expected to prepare a summary of cash, check, and credit card activities, reflecting the hotel's financial performance for the day. This position is also responsible for posting room charges and room taxes to guest's accounts including guest transactions not posted during the day by the front office cashier.
Qualifications
Education and Experience - Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English. Previously hospitality experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities - Detail-oriented and thorough. Ability to perform consistent work to the highest of standards. Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests. Ability to interact with guests in a pleasant, friendly manner. Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management, and co-workers, both in person and by telephone. Strong customer service skills. Knowledge of hospitality operations. Basic Accounting skills and ability to compute accurate mathematical calculations. Skilled at resolving challenges efficiently and effectively. Ability to multitask effectively in a fast paced environment. Ability to work well under pressure, dealing with many arrivals and departures within a short period of time. Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your department.
Physical Demands - Ability to stand and move throughout front office and lobby while continuously performing essential job functions. Ability to lift to 25 lbs. Occasional twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, and walking. Frequent talking, hearing, seeing, and smiling.
Working Conditions - Primarily located indoors but can be exposed to outside weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to high volume places. Minimal to moderate noise levels consistent with hotel environment. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals (proper PPE provided). Shift work is required, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
