Production Control Planner

The Production Control Planner is responsible for coordinating materials, suppliers, and inventory to ensure a consistent and uninterrupted flow of production. This role works closely with suppliers, logistics partners, and internal teams to maintain optimal inventory levels while supporting efficiency and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

1. Material Planning & Purchasing

  • Create and manage purchase orders based on inventory and production needs
  • Maintain proper inventory levels to support production without overstocking
  • Ensure timely availability of materials for manufacturing operations

2. Supplier & Logistics Coordination

  • Communicate effectively with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of materials
  • Coordinate with logistics providers to manage inbound shipments
  • Address and resolve supply chain issues as they arise

3. Inventory & Data Management

  • Conduct inventory analysis and track material usage
  • Maintain accurate system data and inventory records
  • Perform research and collaborate with internal teams on material needs

4. Production Support

  • Partner with operations and production teams to align material flow with schedules
  • Monitor and communicate production and supply chain performance metrics

5. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Perform root cause analysis for supply chain disruptions
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Support safety, environmental, and workplace organization (5S) initiatives
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain, production planning, or related field preferred
  • Manufacturing experience required; automotive industry experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Experience with database systems and MRP/ERP systems preferred
  • Ability to analyze data and track key performance metrics
Additional Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to write reports and communicate effectively across teams
  • Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities (percentages, ratios, basic statistics)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Combination of office and production floor environment
  • Regular sitting, standing, and walking
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must comply with all safety and PPE requirements
