Student Retention Teacher

Eagle Ridge Academy is a tuition-free classical, college-preparatory charter school serving students and families in grades K-12. Eagle Ridge offers an academically rigorous education that uses a time-tested, classical, liberal arts curriculum. Eagle Ridge Academy, one of the largest charter schools in Minnesota and one of the few K-12 classical education programs in the state seeks applicants for a Student Retention Teacher. The role of the Student Retention Teacher is to coordinate and provide alternative programming for retained students through targeted intervention and supports addressing academic and behavioral challenges while upholding principles of classical education. The Student Retention Teacher will orchestrate and foster a supportive learning environment in collaboration with teachers, parents, and support staff. The ideal candidate has prior experience in special education, working directly with students to meet their individual needs.

Responsibilities: Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop individualized SMART goals in core subject areas and systematically track, analyze, and report progress toward those goals.
  • Prepare comprehensive and engaging intervention lesson plans tailored to meet the individual needs of at-risk students, addressing their academic challenges.
  • Ensure effective classroom management techniques to create a productive, warm learning environment that promotes students' focus and participation.
  • Respond promptly to students' academic and emotional needs, offering personalized support and guidance to help them overcome obstacles and stay engaged in their education.
  • Conduct pre- and post-assessments to evaluate students' academic progress, identifying, and targeting areas that require improvement.
  • Regularly track and analyze students' performance to adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate closely with the classroom teachers, and special services teachers to ensure teaching methods appropriately address intervention plans.
  • Facilitate in regular meetings with stakeholders to share progress updates, discuss student challenges, and collectively plan for targeted interventions.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one progress meetings with at-risk students to discuss their academic performance, set goals, and provide encouragement and constructive feedback.
  • Implement behavioral management techniques to address disruptive behaviors, providing students with positive reinforcement and appropriate consequences when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' performance, behavior, and attendance.
  • Reflect on teaching practices, interventions, and outcomes to identify areas for improvement and implement changes accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Desire to teach using the classical education model
  • Certification: A valid Minnesota teaching license, special education preferred

Job Type: Full time, 186 days Salary Range: $41,273-$78,100 Benefits: Medical, Life Insurance, Short and Long-term disability, Employee Assistance Program, TRA, PTO
