Entry-Level Water Utility Worker
We are hiring an Entry-Level Water Utility Worker to support the operation and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start a career in public works or utilities—no prior experience required, training provided. This is a 24/7 operation, and the role includes overtime, on-call, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Pay: $17.00- $19.00 per hour DOE
Responsibilities
- Assist with maintenance and repair of water and wastewater systems
- Install and repair water lines, meters, hydrants, valves, and sewer lines
- Inspect and maintain manholes, lift stations, and system components
- Read water meters and complete service orders and work documentation
- Operate equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, and Vactor trucks
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment
- Mark underground utilities and set up safe work zones
- Respond to customer service requests professionally
- Work in confined spaces and outdoor environments
- Participate in on-call rotation for emergencies
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license with clean driving record Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Ability to perform physical labor and lift up to 50 lbs Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Ability to work on-call, nights, weekends, and holidays Team-oriented with a strong work ethic No prior experience required – training provided
