Description
Wound Care Clinic Coordinator
Under general supervision and collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator, Medical Director and Program Director, plans, organizes, directs, and controls all activities involved in the effective, efficient, and economical utilization of material resources and personnel of the delegated specialty service, ensuring patient service is continuous and of the highest quality. Responsible for streamlining the efficiency and safety of the flow of the patients throughout the clinic on a daily basis. For the continuity of care, this person utilizes her assessment skills for the correct collaboration of providers to ensure the appropriate choice of care for each specific patient and their individual complexities.
Compensation Pay Range: $24.39 - $32.83
Essential Functions
- Reports to the Clinical Coordinator. Works collaboratively with physicians, leadership, nurses and MAs and other ancillary departments where necessary. Coordinates the overall flow of the clinic
- Motivates and directs Nurses and MAs
- Makes room assignments for the physicians, nurses and MAs appropriate to specific needs of the patient being seen on a daily basis. Assigning staff to various PODS.
- Develops and implements action plans to improve daily patient flow of the clinic and appropriate utilization of the rooms
- Manages, plans, and monitors day-to-day clinical operations of specialty service.
- Collaborates with MAs to ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available for the clinic, ie instruments, MIST.
- Monitors dressing supplies and pharmaceutical products.
- Monitors room turnover and case set up, cleans exam rooms when necessary to facilitate continuity of patient flow.
- Provides direct patient care as needed, including offloading and specifically assisting with Podiatric patients, MIST therapy.
- Orients new staff to specialty service.
- Triage phone calls to assist nurse of the day
- Coordinates ambulance transportation for stretcher patients.
- Responsible for overseeing and assisting the MAs in their assignments.

Supports cost containment efforts through conservation of supplies and care of equipment.
Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Role Expectations
Provides for smooth day-to-day operation within the specialty service.
Uses verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates knowledge of proper documentation procedures. Demonstrates ability to interact with others.
Provides information in development of annual budget. Uses resources judiciously. Collaborates with Clinical Coordinator in regards to ensuring appropriate resources are available.
Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and keeps updated on current practices.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education - Preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Assoc degree in MA or Cert Med Asst preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
3 Years of Medical Assistant experience required, preferably in a busy clinic.
