Description
Cost Accountant
Support manufacturing and operations finance through accurate cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis. In this role, you will:
- Support the monthly cost accounting close, including inventory valuation, GR/IR analysis, cost revaluations, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Analyze material, labor, overhead, and manufacturing variances.
- Maintain and support standard cost systems, including cost rollups, updates, and exception reviews.
- Assist with inventory accounting activities, including in-transit inventory, rebates, tolling, and intercompany transactions.
- Support absorption accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Partner with plant and operations teams to resolve cost issues and improve data accuracy.
- Prepare and maintain schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for audits, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
- Assist with property accounting coordination, depreciation support, and project-related accounting activities.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, including automation, reporting enhancements, and system transitions.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, with exposure to cost accounting, manufacturing, or plant finance strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of inventory accounting and manufacturing cost concepts.
- Experience with SAP (ECC and/or S/4); BOBJ experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
