Seasonal Custodial Workers

Be part of a team that values innovation, impact, and shared success.Shippensburg University is currently seeking applications for full-time Temporary Custodial Workers for Summer 2026. Team members are expected to perform a wide range of housekeeping and custodial services across campus facilities, including academic, administrative, residential, and athletic buildings. These full-time, temporary positions are scheduled Monday through Friday, with shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The successful candidates will contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, employees, and visitors.As a member of the Facilities Divisional staff, this position is deemed essential. Essential employees must remain or report to work during partial or full day closings of the University due to hazardous road conditions, emergency circumstances or for other reasons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general custodial duties such as:
    • Cleaning furniture, fixtures, lavatories, showers, stairways, windows, carpets, and drinking fountains
    • Trash removal and floor care (mopping, vacuuming)
    • Seasonal deep cleaning (Fall and Spring)
    • Operate and inspect manual and powered custodial equipment safely
    • Monitor and report maintenance issues or needed repairs in buildings and furniture
    • Maintain supply and equipment rooms; request supplies as needed
    • Follow all safety protocols and participate in training programs
    • Provide support during emergencies and scheduled campus events
    • Deliver excellent customer service; respond to complaints and service needs with appropriate measure of courtesy and service
    • Maintain effective verbal and written communication with supervisors and team members
    • Report incidents and injuries immediately to the appropriate personnel
    • Overtime as needed

Minimum Qualifications - On-campus interview is required.

Preferred Qualifications - Previous custodial experience in an institutional setting is preferred.
