Utility Meter Reader

Metergy is seeking a Utility Meter Reader to support meter data collection in Montgomery and Eastern Chester Counties and surrounding areas. This role is primarily field-based and involves extensive walking, independent work, and direct coordination with clients to access metering equipment. The Meter Reader will accurately collect and enter meter data using a company-issued tablet and manage their daily schedule with minimal supervision.

Training will be provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive throughout the Greater Philadelphia Area using a personal vehicle.
  • Monthly two-night travel trip to Allentown Pennsylvania.
  • Coordinate with clients, property managers, and site contacts to schedule access to meters.
  • Perform daily meter readings and accurately enter data into company systems using a tablet.
  • Walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day) while performing meter reading activities.
  • Manage daily routes and workload independently to ensure timely completion of assigned readings.
  • Provide clear and accurate field notes and reports through the company reporting system.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with clients, tenants, and property staff.
  • Assist with additional field-related tasks as needed, based on operational requirements.

Requirements:

  • Own and operate a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Preferred places of residence in the areas surrounding KOP, Ambler, and Willow Grove.
  • Ability to work independently and remain self-sufficient in a field-based role.
  • Comfortable with extensive walking and working outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the flexibility to manage one's own schedule.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
  • Comfortable learning and using new software and mobile applications.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in utilities, field operations, route management, or customer-facing roles.
  • Familiarity with data entry using tablets or mobile devices.
  • Experience with driving in the Greater Philadelphia Area.
