Casitas Municipal Water District is seeking a seasonal general maintenance staff for Lake Casitas Recreation Area (LCRA) during the busy season (April - September).
Job Description
Under supervision, the role involves serving as general maintenance staff for LCRA. Key duties include:
- Performing janitorial duties to maintain the cleanliness of LCRA.
- Operating District equipment including vehicles, mowers, weed whips, backhoe, loader, and miscellaneous power and hand tools.
- Operating sewage pump truck (higher rate of pay for this duty).
- Assisting full-time maintenance workers as needed.
- Maintaining trees, plants, shrubs, and watering them.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Education and experience: Any combination of training, education, or experience which would provide the required knowledge and abilities for this position. Knowledge and abilities include:
- Knowledge of proper work safety standards.
- Customer service procedures.
- Tools and equipment used in park operation and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to learn rules, regulations, and policies governing the use of Casitas' facilities.
- First Aid/CPR.
- Keeping up with and adapting to changes in policies and procedures.
- Following and completing work schedules to ensure the smooth flow and timely conclusion of work assignments and projects.
- Driving vehicles safely to carry out park operations.
- Following and communicating oral and written instructions; communicating tactfully with the public, other agencies, District personnel, and co-workers; establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
Typical physical activities include:
- Use of office equipment such as computers, copiers, telephones.
- Pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, and lifting equipment weighing up to ninety (90) pounds.
- Operating District vehicles and maintenance equipment.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb during field routines; stand and walk for extended time periods; walk in uneven terrain, in an outdoor environment, and on a boat subject to wave motion of lake.
- Working in an outdoor environment exposed to natural weather, flora, and fauna conditions of Southern California and significant temperature changes between cold and heat.
- Sitting for extended time periods.
- Hearing and vision within normal ranges.
This position is part-time and does not include benefits.
