Pharmacy Technician Coordinator For Infusion Services

Newport News, Virginia Overview The Pharmacy Technician Coordinator for Infusion Services supports the clinical, operational, and financial performance of infusion pharmacy services through data analysis, reporting, and process improvement. This role combines traditional pharmacy technician knowledge with operational understanding to optimize medication workflows, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve patient care delivery across infusion services. This position is responsible for process improvements related to operations, compliance of state and federal requirements, including 340B and DSCSA, and support of regulatory readiness for the infusion service line. This position directly supports the operations manager as needed to maintain continuity of operations at the offsite locations.

What you will do

  • Infusion pharmacy and clinical support: Support infusion pharmacy operations, workflows, inventory management, shortage management and supply utilization
  • Process improvement and project support: Participate in or lead quality improvement initiatives or projects
  • Process improvement and project support: Support implementation and optimization of pharmacy information systems, EMRs, and inventory management tools
  • Infusion pharmacy and clinical support: In partnership with service line leadership, analyze infusion medication utilization, waste, and other metrics to identify improvement opportunities
  • Compliance and documentation: Support and conduct audits, surveys, and regulatory reviews
  • Data analysis and reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to infusion medications, patient volumes, costs, reimbursement, and operational performance

Qualifications Education

  • High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
  • Bachelors Degree, in a related field (Preferred)

Experience

  • 3-4 years Sterile Compounding (Required)

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Excel functions (pivot tables, formulas, charts) and the ability to create clear, actionable reports and dashboards
  • Ability to evaluate drug utilization, waste, dose rounding efficiency, and drug spend to support cost containment and optimization
  • Skill in using pharmacy management systems, EMRs, and inventory systems to extract and analyze infusion-related data
  • Ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to pharmacists, nurses, leadership, and other stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data, documentation, and reports
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret clinical, operational, and financial data related to infusion medications and services
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while supporting both operational pharmacy needs and analytical responsibilities

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required) and
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) PTCB or ExCPT Upon Hire(Required) and
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Completion of PTCB certificate in one of the following areas: Hazardous Drug Management, Sterile Compounding, Regulatory Compliance, Supply Chain and Inventory Management within 30 Days(Required)
