YOUR IMPACT
This position prioritizes the safety, well-being, and positive experience of all passengers while following established routes, schedules, and safety guidelines. The Bus Driver builds welcoming, supportive relationships with youth and families, models YMCA core values, and helps create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment during transport. This role also includes basic vehicle care, cleanliness, and clear communication with staff to ensure reliable and efficient service. May also provide support in other areas as assigned.

WHAT YOUR DAY MAY LOOK LIKE

No two days are the same in this role - but every day centers on safely transporting members, creating a positive experience on every ride, and ensuring vehicles are clean, prepared, and ready to go.

  • Safely operate YMCA vehicles, including buses and vans, in accordance with policies and state laws
  • Transport members while following all passenger capacity and safety requirements
  • Complete pre- and post-trip inspections, documenting mileage, fuel levels, and maintenance needs
  • Maintain clean, organized vehicles and ensure readiness for each trip
  • Promote safety by keeping first aid supplies stocked and reviewing bus rules with passengers
  • Build positive, friendly relationships with members, families, staff, and volunteers
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors and team members regarding schedules and needs
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing requirements, including CDL and passenger endorsements
  • Report vehicle issues, damaged equipment, or safety concerns promptly

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION: 1 Position

Position 1: Northeast Family YMCA
Seasonal Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Monday - Friday 7:30 - 9:00 am
Monday - Thursday 3:15 - 4:30 pm
Schedule may vary
$18.00 per hour with Current CDL

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum age of 21 for all CDL holders driving over state lines
  • Minimum of two years driving experience
  • Hold a valid driver's license in good standing with your current state of residence
  • Current Class A, B or C CDL License with passenger endorsement and J08 restriction required
  • Must maintain a history of a clean driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked annually as a condition of employment
  • Motor vehicle records must meet and remain acceptable according to the MVR eligibility criteria
  • CPR, AED and First Aid Certifications required within 90 days
  • Current Praesidium Academy training
