Job Title
The hiring rate for this position is $18.33/hr.
Essential Job Functions
- Collects waste and refuse; empties contents of refuse cans into sanitation truck.
- Provides driving directions to Sanitation Truck Driver when working in narrow hazardous spaces. Rakes and loads grass and brush collections.
- Cleans refuse and trash from trucks and equipment.
- Reports violations of refuse ordinance to Sanitation Foreman.
- Performs general housekeeping for all sanitation areas and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
- Ability to understand, communicate, and follow instructions.
- Ability to learn rules and regulations pertaining to refuse collection; retain knowledge of the locations of refuse containers on assigned routes.
- Ability to work at a constant pace and in all weather conditions. Ability to lift heavy weights.
- Ability to effectively interact with citizens, fellow employees, and the general public.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Graduation from high school; or GED. Valid Florida driver's license.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction). Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid). Reaching, bending, heavy lifting.
- Use of hands and fingers.
- Standing, climbing, walking, running.
