Description

The Home in Walpole is a residential treatment placement for adolescent youth who need specialized treatment as they heal from the traumatic events that have shaped their young lives. Youth who live on the campus are part of a greater community which includes Clifford Academy, a Massachusetts Chapter 766 Special Education School. The campus is located on 166 scenic acres in Walpole and offers recreational activities such as a state-of-the-art gym, and walking trails for youth to explore. Our strength-based clinical services help youth learn to manage their behaviors while preparing them for life in the community.

The Home in Walpole is looking for Temp Residential Counselors to make a difference in the lives of youth ages 13-19 with trauma histories, developmental delays, and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis.

How You'll Be Making a Difference

  • You'll be joining a dynamic team of professionals implementing our trauma-informed care model.
  • Supporting youth in developing the skills they need to successfully transition home to families.
  • Teaching age-appropriate life skills, coping skills, and social skills through modeling, counseling, and other techniques.
  • Participating in groups and activities designed to enhance youth growth and development.
  • Participating in both on-site and off-site recreational/educational activities.
  • Maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
  • Passing the DEEC CORI/DCF background check and having a valid ID
  • Being physically active for an 8-10 hour shift
  • Participating in verbal de-escalation and physical intervention with youth
  • Multi-tasking in a changing and fast-paced treatment environment
  • Receiving and implementing feedback in the moment and through a structured supervision process
  • Ability to work evenings, holidays, weekend shifts as required

Qualifications

  • 1-year + prior experience working with youth.
  • HS diploma or equivalency.
  • Experience working with youth, particularly in a similar setting preferred
  • A passion for making a positive impact on the lives of kids.

Pay Range Positioning Summary

Candidates with less directly related experience may be placed toward the lower end of the range, while those with extensive or specialized experience may be placed toward the higher end.
