Sales And Use Tax Accountant
The LovelyGroup is looking to add a Sales and Use Tax Accountant to our accounting team! The Sales and Use Tax Accountant is responsible for ensuring compliance with all state and local sales and use tax regulations. This role manages tax filings, reconciliations, audits, and process improvements related to indirect tax. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and knowledgeable about multi-state tax requirements.

In this role you will…
Support accounting functions of LovelyGroup; including the following:
- Prepare and file timely and accurate sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions
- Reconcile sales and use tax accounts to the general ledger
- Monitor and ensure compliance with changing tax laws and regulations
- Research taxability of products and services and provide guidance to internal teams
- Manage exemption certificates, including collection, validation, and recordkeeping
- Support and coordinate sales and use tax audits, including responding to auditor inquiries
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes related to indirect tax
- Maintain tax calendars and ensure deadlines are met
- Collaborate with accounting, finance, and operations teams on tax-related matters
Location: On-site- Omaha, Nebraska (Not eligible to be remote) Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt Schedule: Hybrid work schedule, 2-3 days work from home
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 2–5+ years of experience in sales and use tax, indirect tax, or general accounting
- Strong understanding of multi-state sales and use tax regulations
- Experience with tax compliance software (e.g., Avalara, Vertex) preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Nice to have:
- Consumer and or Retail ecommerce industry background preferred
- Working knowledge of our ERP, NetSuite
