Position Title: Dental Assistant II (General Dentistry)

Department: Clinical

Reports To: Office Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday

Position Overview

The Dental Assistant II supports the clinical team by providing chairside assistance, ensuring efficient workflow, and delivering a high-quality patient experience. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to support a wide range of general dental procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Chairside Assisting & Clinical Support

  • Assist the dentist during general dental procedures (fillings, crowns, root canals, extractions, dentures, etc.)
  • Support orthodontic and pediatric procedures as needed
  • Prepare and break down treatment rooms
  • Anticipate doctor needs and maintain efficient workflow
  • Chart and update treatment records

Patient Care & Experience

  • Ensure patients feel comfortable before, during, and after treatment
  • Review medical histories and take vital signs when needed
  • Provide post-operative instructions
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene

Radiographs & Documentation

  • Take digital X-rays, intraoral scans, and photos
  • Take impressions for treatment planning
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records

Infection Control & Sterilization

  • Clean, sterilize, and organize instruments
  • Follow OSHA, CDC, and office protocols
  • Maintain cleanliness of operatories

Team & Office Support

  • Support front desk or administrative tasks as needed
  • Assist with inventory and supply management
  • Collaborate with clinical and front office teams

Qualifications & Skills

  • Dental Assistant certification or equivalent experience preferred
  • Knowledge of dental procedures and instruments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented and dependable
  • Familiarity with dental software preferred
