Job Description
The Patient Care Rep works under the supervision of leadership. The Clinic Patient Care Rep provides a wide range of assistive services to promote patient flow, patient information gathering and patient care in the clinic setting. Performs front desk duties for the Provider's office to support patient care delivery and follow up.Float Pool: Will perform and coordinates patient care on nursing unit(s) as assigned on a daily basis according to standards. May cover extended leaves of absence and/or excessive vacancies. Opportunities may include the ability to work from 2 to 6 weeks on a unit then rotate to another unit. Will work under the supervision of a Director and Associate Director. The Clinic Patient Care Rep provides a wide range of assistive services to promote patient flow, patient information gathering and patient care in the clinic setting. Performs front desk duties for the Provider's office to support patient care delivery and follow up.
Responsibilities
- Greets and escorts patient to exam room.
- Interviews patient and documents patient's response in the medical record according to standard.
- Maintains examination room and equipment.
- May assist provider during physical examination, and certain special procedures as instructed.
- Performs EKG's, specimen collection and point of care testing with appropriate training and competencies.
- Schedules, reschedules, and cancels patient appointments with Physician and Nurse Practitioner, receptionist and customer service representative. Performs check in and check out functions in clinic. Assists with front office duties as requested.
- Completes patient registration, medical record assignment, and visit creation.
- Communicates with patients regarding appointments, completion of insurance forms, medical releases and other documentation.
- Prepares release of information and consent forms for patient signature according to applicable statutes, sends requests to other health care provider(s) and coordinates the receipt of this additional information for the physician(s) and other health care providers.
- Requests payment, balances receipts for deposit, prepares deposit, reconciles and completes daily reports and work lists.

Education
- H.S. Diploma - Required
- Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant training - Preferred
Work Experience
- Physician's office or healthcare setting - Preferred
- Computer data entry, customer service, collections and medical record responsibility experience - Preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology - Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 Days
Travel Requirements
- Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed. - Required

Essential Technical/Motor Skills
- Fine motor skills required, eye\hand coordination, walk, ability to speak clearly, hear answer phone, electronic data entry.
Interpersonal Skills
- Displays a friendly, positive attitude and communicates with patients, families, physicians and co-workers in a professional manner.
- Ability to communicate in verbally and written.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Must move, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, stand, push, pull, and lift.
- Must follow good body mechanics.
Essential Mental Abilities
- Ability to collect thorough information regarding patient's condition and evaluate effects of care; must be able to visually inspect patient's condition.
- Problem solve, manipulate numbers, adaptability, interpret data, calculate, comprehend, understand, explain, assess, evaluate short term and long term memory.
Essential Sensory Requirements
- Ability to visually assess patient condition; must be able to communicate with patient in order to assess condition and evaluate effects of care.
- Visual, hearing, feeling, smell.
Exposure to Hazards
- Body fluids, needles, cuts, blood products, back injuries and any other medical office related hazards.
