Supervises: Grant Specialist I
Position Summary
The Grant Specialist II plays a critical role in ensuring the organization's grant portfolio is administered in full compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. This position serves as a compliance-focused resource for program and finance teams, supporting responsible stewardship of public and private grant funds while advancing the organization's mission.
Essential Responsibilities
Grant Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
• Ensure organizational compliance with local, state, and federal grant requirements, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), state agency rules, and funder-specific terms and conditions.
• Review grant award documents, contracts, and amendments to identify compliance obligations, reporting requirements, and funding restrictions.
• Monitor changes in grant-related regulations, policies, and best practices affecting nonprofit organizations and communicate implications to internal stakeholders.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on grant compliance, advising program managers and leadership on allowable activities, costs, and documentation requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce grant compliance procedures and internal controls to support ethical stewardship and risk mitigation.
• Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions or process improvements to ensure adherence to funder and regulatory expectations.
Federal, State, and Local Grant Administration
• Coordinate post-award grant administration activities to ensure compliance with approved scopes of work, budgets, and performance objectives.
• Review grant expenditures for allowability, allocability, and reasonableness in collaboration with finance staff.
• Track grant timelines, deliverables, and reporting deadlines to ensure timely and accurate submissions, including grant drawdowns.
• Ensure compliance with procurement standards, cost sharing/match requirements, and time and effort documentation as applicable.
• Maintain complete and accurate grant files in accordance with record retention requirements and audit standards.
Reporting, Monitoring & Audit Support
• Prepare and/or review required programmatic and financial reports to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with funder guidelines.
• Support external audits, funder monitoring visits, and desk reviews by coordinating documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Track and support resolution of audit findings or compliance concerns related to grant funding
Pay Range: $55,000 - $60,000 per year
