The Field Human Resource Office 4 supports Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Laurel Highlands and is looking to hire a Clerical Assistant 3 to process payroll and timekeeping functions. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this Clerical Assistant 3 role, you will serve as a centralized timekeeper with responsibilities for processing time and payroll actions for multiple bargaining units in a regional HR office that supports SCI Laurel Highlands. This includes processing timekeeping functions for Corrections Officers, Commissioned Officers, and all other employees within the institution.   • Timekeeping Tasks: Enter leave requests, overtime, substitutions, and schedule changes for multiple bargaining units accurately
  • Payroll Processing: Investigate and resolve pay discrepancies, verify and correct time entries, input payroll schedule substitutions, and code overtime
  • Communication: Work with staff and supervisors to resolve payroll and timekeeping issues in a timely manner
  • Clerical Responsibilities: Complete time and payroll related filing, typing, tracking data, answering routine phone calls and emails, and inputting data into various computer systems
  • Independent Decisions: Review information; apply knowledge of all pay rules, collective bargaining agreements, and time-related policies; and determine appropriate actions in routine situations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to two days per week, after successful completion of a six month probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Somerset, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
