Position Summary
Compensation is based on 19 hours per week. If not indicated, the hourly rate will be determined by the supervisor.
Continuation of employment is subject to the availability of funding from state and/or federal sources.
This position will assist the Jefferson State Community College Coordinator of International Student Services in day-to-day operations. This includes direct support of international admissions, immigration support services, community resource information, and community outreach programs. Additional support for the coordinator includes areas of study abroad, the Global Pioneer's student group, and other internationally related functions of the Office. The assistant is responsible for assisting and preparing work-study students for maintaining and preparing secure records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate with International Applicants to Jefferson State Community College to determine their immigration status and provide details to applicants on the international admission process.
- Process admission documents and track applicant's progress.
- Work as a part-time Designated School Official (DSO) and issue immigration documents for international students newly admitted to Jefferson State.
- Research and update documents for International Orientation Sessions.
- Utilize SEVIS data management to ensure student compliance. Communicate problems and issues to Coordinator.
- Prepare supporting documents needed for international students for governmental benefits such as obtaining a driver's license, work permits, etc.
- Assist Coordinator with efforts for global engagement, including event planning, study abroad development, and campus internationalization efforts.
- Assist with preparing for International Education Week and Global Pioneers Student Group events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate required
- Associate degree* or higher preferred
- Experience working with multilingual, multicultural, or diverse populations preferred
*A combination of relevant work and educational experience may be considered in lieu of the associate degree.
