JOB SUMMARY:

The Financial Accounting Assistant will assist with preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization's assets liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide bookkeeping/accounting support to the trust accounts established for consumers whom SERV is representative payee
  • Provide bookkeeping/accounting support for all monthly Consumer Receivable accounts for rent and contribution to care
  • Records journal entries and assist with month end close and related reconciliations.
  • Prepares and distributes reports on all accounts; maintains and records all deposits and disbursements related to the trust accounts
  • Maintains files of all cash disbursements to clients; secures authorized signatures on requested checks
  • Prepares and distributes monthly invoices/statements for fee-for-service charges
  • Reconciles all trust accounts and consumer accounts on a monthly basis and follow up with payments that are in arrears
  • Maintains trust account balances to remain below threshold to remain eligible for Medicaid benefits
  • Calculates and initiates transfer of funds to pooled trust account when appropriate
  • Process payments for invoices due from consumers: such as rent and medical expenses
  • Communicates to guardians, staff and other applicable parties when needed
  • Provides outside agencies and auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform audit(s)
  • Maintains subledger for rents in tandem with Properties and Management
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Proficient with Sage Intaact preferred but not required
  • Maintains positive working relationships with staff members, both at the administrative offices and at program locations

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • 2 years relevant experience preferred;
  • Valid driver's license in state of residence.

SALARY:

  • $28.34 per hour.
