About the Endocrinology Medical Assistant Role
Upperline Health is seeking a Endocrinology Medical Assistant who offers high quality, patient centered care in a value-based practice.
In our patient-centered and outcome driven environment the Endocrinology Medical Assistant supports patients in office with duties in-office such as rooming patients, obtaining medical history and taking vital signs as well as ensuring care beyond the moment by coordinating care, supporting extended care team efforts and conducting proactive outreach to improve outcomes and patient experience. The MA also provides direct support to the Upperline Plus Primary Care Provider to ensure smooth clinical operations and effective team-based care.

Endocrinology Medical Assistant Responsibilities
- Room patients and prepare them for examination by recording vital signs, medical histories, and current medications
- Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., blood glucose, HbA1c) and document results accurately
- Assist providers with procedures such as injections and specimen collection
- Administer medications and injections as directed (e.g., insulin, vitamin B12)
- Collect, label, and process laboratory specimens (urine, etc.)
- Educate patients on medication usage, glucose monitoring, and lifestyle modifications
- Accurately document clinical information in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Performs thorough and accurate medication reconciliation at each patient encounter by reviewing, verifying, and consolidating all prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and herbal products
- Manage in-basket messages, prescription refill requests, and prior authorizations
- Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies commonly used by the provider
- Identify barriers to care (transportation, medication access, health literacy) and escalate appropriately
- Participation in interdisciplinary team meetings & daily clinic team huddles
- Other related duties as deemed necessary by Upperline Health
Endocrinology Medical Assistant Qualifications
- Experience in endocrinology or chronic disease management is a plus
- Certified MA certification strongly preferred
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and basic pharmacology, including medication classifications, common indications, dosing ranges, and potential side effects
- Ability to accurately interpret provider documentation, diagnostic orders, and treatment plans
- Previous experience working in an EMR system – ideally, AthenaHealth
- Proficiency using Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office products is necessary
- Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license and minimum state required liability auto insurance
- Extremely strong customer-service orientation and work ethic
- Comfort managing multiple tasks and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment
- Empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to ensure that each of your interactions with patients, family caregivers, clinicians, and team members is effective and meaningful
Compensation is commensurate to compensation for similar positions in the region and based on prior training and experience.
