Job Title: General Clerk II (Administrative Support)
Job Type: Contract (Full-Time)
Base Period: June 1, 2026 - May 31, 2027
Option periods extending through June 30, 2029
Interviews will be conducted Wednesday, May 6th - Thursday, May 7th only.
Position Overview
The General Clerk provides administrative and clerical support to the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) Regional Office. This role supports daily office operations, case processing, and communication with internal staff and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls, greet visitors, and direct inquiries to appropriate staff
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and documents
- Perform data entry, typing, and document management tasks
- Create and maintain files, indexes, and records
- Operate office equipment (computers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, etc.)
- Schedule and coordinate hearings (telephone, video, and in-person)
- Communicate with court reporters and external customers
- Respond to inquiries regarding case processing and appeals
- Provide administrative support to Administrative Judges and legal staff
- Assist the public and representatives with general procedural questions
Required Qualifications
- 2-4 years of administrative or clerical experience (legal environment preferred)
- Basic knowledge of office procedures and administrative practices
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Proficiency with standard office software and equipment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organization
- Strong professionalism and confidentiality are required
Work Schedule
- Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (30-minute lunch)
- Federal holidays observed (no work required)
