Description
Certified Medical Assistant
The Certified Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled healthcare professional who works collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff to provide high-quality patient care. Certified Medical Assistants perform both administrative and clinical duties to support efficient, cost-effective care, optimize patient outcomes, and improve overall quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients by providing information, guidance, and support throughout visits and procedures
- Verify patient information, obtain medical, surgical, family, and social histories, and document in EMR
- Prepare patients for exams and procedures; record vital signs, assist with positioning, and follow physician/APP instructions
- Perform basic clinical tasks including wound care, dressing changes, suture/staple removal, and specimen collection
- Administer physician/APP orders, answer questions about treatments or surgery, and notify patients of test results
- Maintain patient confidentiality and accurately document all communications, procedures, and treatments
- Respond to prescription refill requests and manage patient communications via phone or portal promptly
- Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies; perform routine cleaning, biohazard disposal, and preventive equipment maintenance
- Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and clinic policies to ensure patient and staff safety
- Assist patients with ambulation and transport, escalating needs as necessary
- Participate in continuing education and professional development to maintain skills and certifications
- Possible travel to local satellite clinics to perform job duties

Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program
- Current Medical Assisting Certification with no restrictions
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique, and clinic-based health and safety precautions
- Ability to use and apply medical terminology accurately
- Understanding of general clinical principles, methodologies, and outcome measures
- Strong communication skills with patients and external parties in a courteous and professional manner
