Lift Truck Operator (LTO) – Pole & Squeeze Clamp

Warehouse / Shipping / Production Support

Warehouse Supervisor / Shipping Lead

Operate powered industrial trucks equipped with pole attachments (for carpet/turf rolls) and squeeze clamps (for foam, padding, pallets) to move, load, and stage rolls and materials safely and efficiently. Ensure product integrity during handling, support smooth plant flow, and maintain safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate lift trucks with pole attachments to pick up, transport, and stage carpet/turf rolls.
  • Operate squeeze clamp trucks for handling foam, padding, or wrapped rolls without damage.
  • Load/unload trailers, containers, or rail cars with roll goods, padding, pallets, or supplies.
  • Inspect forklift/pole/squeeze attachments before shift; complete daily checklists and report issues.
  • Properly align poles with roll cores to avoid tearing, crushing, or misalignment.
  • Adjust squeeze clamp pressure per material spec to prevent crushing foam/padding.
  • Stage finished goods in designated bays; rotate and track inventory by lot/color/style as required.
  • Supply tufting and finishing machines with raw materials (yarn, backing, padding rolls) as scheduled.
  • Support shipping by scanning and tagging rolls/pallets; verify lot numbers and BOL accuracy.
  • Maintain clean and safe warehouse/aisle conditions; remove debris, shrink wrap, banding, etc.
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures (seatbelts, horn usage, speed limits, PPE).
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory verification when needed.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of forklift operation with pole and/or squeeze clamp strongly preferred.
  • Familiar with textile/carpet/foam handling best practices.
  • Ability to read production tickets, BOLs, and inventory tags.
  • Basic math and attention to detail for lot/color/roll number accuracy.
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to follow plant rules.
  • Physical ability: sit/operate truck most of shift, climb in/out, turn head/torso, lift up to ~40 lbs occasionally, handle dusty/noisy environment.

The employee shall undertake any additional tasks as required by the company, in line with the job description and under the guidance and supervision of the company. These tasks will be performed at times and locations deemed reasonable by the company.
