POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Import Export Specialist is a critical role in Vollrath’s import and export program. This position will own the planning, booking, and coordination of ocean, air, and truck shipping between the US and foreign countries. They partner with Sales, Customer Service, Planning, Logistics, Trade Compliance on a daily basis to ensure international freight is delivered on time and damage free. This position will find ways to optimize workload and excel at internal customer service.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILIES

  • Plan, book, and track air and ocean freight imports from pickup through final delivery; monitor milestones and proactively resolve delays/exceptions.
  • Manage communication with Customers, Customer Service, Sales, and internal stakekholders to ensure expectations are clear and promises are kept.
  • Prepare, collect, and validate import documentation: commercial invoices, packing lists, HAinterWB/MAWB, arrival notices, certificates of origin, HS codes, country of origin, and Incoterms®.
  • Coordinate with Customs Brokers and Trade Compliance to transmit entry data, resolve classification questions, and clear shipments; ensure accurate HTSUS coding, valuation, and special program claims when applicable.
  • Monitor export shipments for red flags based on BIS, Census Bureau, and other government agency regulations.
  • Verify import and export compliance requirements (PGA/OGA flags, agency holds, EPA reviews, etc.) and escalate when needed.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize transportation processes and improve overall efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain import and export metrics.
  • Utilize Trade Compliance and Order Management systems to manage freight and requirements.
  • Performs other duties/special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
