This job operates in a professional environment. This role routinely uses industry standard housekeeping products, cleaning solutions and equipment. In addition, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to an outdoor environment on 3,500 acres of South Georgia coastal woodlands, to include intercostal waterways, swamps and dense forests. Encounters with various wildlife (feral hogs, deer, snakes, alligators, spiders, ticks, mosquitos and other insects) are common.

This role requires a mixture of physical demands. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, bend, kneel or crouch. The employee must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time (up to eight hours) and have the ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds. Must be able to lift items of up to 15 pounds, bend and stand and load and unload laundry apparatuses. Extreme summer heat as well as cold, wet winters are expected.

The ministerial exception furthers the purposes of the Free Exercise and Establishment Clauses of the First Amendment by barring legal claims against church bodies by staff members who perform religious functions. All church pastors are subject to the exception, but a formal ministerial credential is not required. While there is no rigid formula to determine other church staff members that qualify, various factors are considered to determine which staff members are subject to the ministerial exception (please see handbook).

Staff members who qualify under the ministerial exception are not covered by federal and state employment and anti-discrimination laws. Please see the Human Resources Ministry team if you have questions on whether you are subject to the ministerial exception.
