Health And Safety Intern
PCA is looking for health and safety interns for the 2026 summer to assist the local health and safety management team at one of eight paper mills located through the country. This is a paid position based on year of school. If necessary, relocation costs will be paid. This position will report directly to location safety manager and indirectly to the corporate health and safety manager.
Principle duties include developing and implementing training and evaluation programs for incident prevention, working with all levels of employees to mitigate risk, making recommendations for compliance with regulations pertaining to occupational and environmental safety, health, and fire prevention, working with employees to implement accident prevention measures, conducting contractor work in progress audits and PCA site audits.
Qualifications include completion of sophomore year of college, pursuing a 4-year degree in industrial engineering, environmental engineering, occupational health & safety, or related field, and being authorized to work in the U.S.
The successful candidate must possess knowledge of OSHA standards, workers compensation laws, and industrial hygiene practices, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to speak effectively and make use of audio/visual aids, capability of preparing and presenting training sessions to all levels of employees on topics related to occupational safety and health, ability to use and calibrate safety related instrumentation such as sound level meters, noise dosimeters, heat stress monitors, etc, and recognize hazardous conditions and unsafe acts and their cause and make appropriate corrective measures.
