QEC Processing Technician
Physicians East, P.A. is a team of skilled healthcare professionals united to meet the challenge of delivering quality, cost-efficient, comprehensive healthcare to the people of Eastern North Carolina.
Full-time based at our Greenville (other) location in the Quadrangle Endoscopy Center, Monday-Friday, 7:30a.m. – 4 p.m.
Reports to Clinical Supervisor; Operations Manager; Chief of Operations.
None.
Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Frequent standing and walking or other means of mobility for extended periods of time. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires normal visual acuity. Requires exposure to bodily fluids.
Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to clinic environment.
Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting endoscopes. Also, decontamination, prepping, packaging, and sterilization of all instrumentation processed through the department following established department procedures.
(May include, but are not limited to)
- Prepares, disinfects, tests, assembles, sterilizes, packages, and distributes a variety of supplies, instruments, and equipment to be used in patient care, often operating complicated disinfection and sterilization equipment
- Clean and sterilize endoscopes and accessories according to protocol.
- Processes incoming supplies and equipment.
- Collects used equipment and supplies.
- Transport used scopes to the reprocessing room.
- Conforms to rules of safety and infection control while performing these tasks and maintains compliance with AAAHC.
- Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor, Operations Manager, Physician and/or Administrator.
Certified Nursing Assistant or Graduate of an accredited Sterile Processing Technician program.
Experience with sterilization process in an Ambulatory / Endoscopy Center or related environment.
Knowledge of all equipment to include, but not limited to, steam sterilization (autoclave), manual and automated reprocessing of scopes and related equipment, MediVators that provide decontamination and sterilization of Reusable Medical Equipment (RME).
Ability to work under pressure with time constraints and value working in a team-oriented, patient-centered culture.
Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Possess excellent time management skills.
Display a professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families, maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.
Demonstrate a strong sense of team commitment, which includes meeting deadlines, punctuality and excellent follow-through and feedback.
