Your 'day to day'
  • Analyze departmental operations to optimize labor utilization, equipment performance, and material flow.
  • Drive achievement of production targets while minimizing labor costs and maximizing machine efficiency.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to reduce operating costs without compromising quality, safety, or compliance.
  • Support and implement technologies, systems, and process improvements to reduce variation and enhance performance.
  • Monitor production activity, identify issues, and take corrective action to maintain operational continuity.
Team Development & Safety
  • Ensure all employees are properly trained and consistently follow safe work practices and company policies.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain positive employee relations and reinforce established attendance and performance standards.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for Step 1 departmental grievances and employee concerns.
  • Assist in coaching, performance management, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
Inventory & Materials Management
  • Oversee inventory control processes and ensure safe, compliant storage of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Establish and maintain efficient storage and material-handling practices to support production flow and minimize waste.
  • Coordinate product movement and material flow across departments to ensure smooth, timely operations.
Union Relations & Compliance
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the current labor contract and ensure departmental operations comply with all contractual obligations.
  • Conduct daily manufacturing activities with appropriate consideration for union relations and business impact.
  • Work collaboratively with labor representatives to address concerns and support operational goals.
Facility & Environmental Oversight
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance standards are maintained in all assigned areas.
  • Support plant-wide initiatives including grounds maintenance, snow removal coordination, and off-site storage projects as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities by Assignment
Receiving Manager
  • Forecast raw tobacco requirements for product blends and ensure timely availability to support production schedules.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects involving physical labor, operational support, and facility improvements.
Relief Manager
  • Maintain working knowledge of operations within Loose Leaf, Shipping, and Receiving departments.
  • Provide temporary leadership coverage for department managers or supervisors as required.
Who We're Looking For:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or Swedish Match process experience in Shipping or Receiving areas; minimum of five (5) years for other manufacturing areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple operations concurrently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience supervising a large number of hourly employees, preferably in a union setting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the current labor contract and its application to daily operations.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to take direct action, plan effectively, establish priorities, and drive results.

Annual Base Salary Range: $ 80,000 - $100,000
