Forklift Operator, General Labour, Material Handlers in Rochester, NY

This role involves operating a forklift for most of the day to move, stage, and organize inventory within a large warehouse environment. You will prepare materials for installers, use a pallet jack and hand jack to move materials, and support general material handling and inventory activities throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift safely and efficiently for the majority of the workday to move and stage inventory.
• Use a hand jack and pallet jack to transport materials throughout the warehouse.
• Prepare and organize materials so they are ready and accessible for installers.
• Handle and move heavy materials as part of daily physical labor tasks.
• Support general material handling and inventory activities, including organizing and staging products.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in a busy warehouse with many moving parts.
• Collaborate with on-site teams and advisors to ensure materials are in the correct locations and ready when needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or similar environment.
• Extensive physical labor experience, including heavy lifting and manual material handling.
• Experience with pallet jacks and hand jacks for moving materials.
• Experience in material handling, inventory, or general labor in a warehouse setting.
• Strong attendance and reliability, with a consistent record of showing up on time and ready to work.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a large, fast-paced facility with many moving parts.
• Experience working on large projects, including those involving major distribution or fulfillment centers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working on Amazon-related projects or within large e-commerce distribution environments.
• Experience in construction, carpentry, or general labor that involved extensive physical work.
• Demonstrated ability to perform well in demanding environments and stand out among peers.
• Comfort working with advisors and service providers in a coordinated project environment.

Work Environment

You work inside a large Amazon facility with many moving parts and an active, fast-paced warehouse setting. The role involves collaboration with on-site advisors and service partners, and requires consistent awareness of safety due to frequent equipment and personnel movement. The schedule typically runs Monday through Friday, with occasional work on Saturdays, for approximately 8 to 10 hours per day. The dress code includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, and a work shirt, reflecting the hands-on and safety-focused nature of the environment.

This is a Contract position based out of Rochester, NY.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
