Job Description

The Centralized Scheduler is responsible for scheduling patient appointments, procedures, diagnostic therapy, and other treatments; answering general inquires, and providing general information. The Scheduler will maintain electronic health records by entering accurate patient and scheduling information.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and schedules various patient procedures and appointments
    • Schedules patient procedures, diagnostic therapy, tests, treatments, and appointments at the request of the physician, provider, or patient
    • Provides patient or family service instructions prior to appointment and post-procedure instructions as directed by the providing department
    • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary staff to coordinate and schedule procedures and tests
    • Coordinates proper sequencing of exams and scheduling protocols when scheduling multiple procedures and/or appointments
    • Proactively schedules each area to ensure all available time is used appropriately by scheduling sequentially when possible
    • Cancels and reschedules patients as requested by patient, provider, or staff
    • Consistently reviews the daily and future schedules to ensure accuracy and prevent a delay in service to patients
    • Fulfills support responsibilities which may include sending and receiving patient medical records and referral information
  • Maintains electronic medical records by entering accurate patient demographic, insurance, and scheduling information
    • Enters and verifies all required information on the patient profile is complete and accurate
    • Completes pre-registrations including insurance verification
    • Verifies patient billing information
    • Responsible for transcribing and scanning all orders into the electronic health system
    • Enters patient communication notes and provided instructions in the electronic medical record

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School or GED

Experience:

  • 1 year in an administrative or clinical role in a medical office or healthcare setting

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Multitasking, time-management, and organization
