The Assistant Healthy Living Director is responsible for developing and implementing member engagement strategies with a focus on helping members reach their personal wellness goals. This position will provide healthy living initiatives such as SMART Start Trainings, Youth Fitness Fundamentals, Orientations, and other member engagement initiatives. The individual in this role will actively participate as a member of the branch leadership team, risk management, annual giving, and Manager on Duty.

KNOW HOW/REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the daily operation of the Wellness Center, including staff supervision, member engagement, equipment maintenance, cleanliness, and safety.
- Implements Healthy Living strategies that support the engagement and retention of existing members.
- Develops and leads new member connection and education efforts such as Smart Start appointments, Youth Fitness, and special events, etc.
- Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
- Assists in creating and implementing high-quality health and wellness programs and services, which support branch and association mission, goals, and strategies.
- Cross promotes membership and other branch programming.
- Participates in leadership and department meetings and/or related meetings.
- Takes a leadership role in the Annual Campaign with campaigner volunteer and donor recruitment, philanthropic outreach, and board member recruitment
- Completes required abuse risk management training. Adheres to policies and procedures related to appropriate boundaries with children. Monitors building, staff, and members and reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to supervisor. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements to authorities.
- HOURS: Sunday-Thursday (Hours may vary. Up to 30 hours per week)
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with supervision of approximately 15 PT Healthy Living Coaches
- Assist with the supervision of approximately 10 Personal Trainers
- Provide direct service hours as a Healthy Living Coach
- Maintain all records related to staff certifications and general operations
- Leads branch health-related member challenges, such as Treadmill Tuesdays, Iron Strong Challenge, Holiday Hustle, etc.

Successful performance in this position results in quality member engagement and relationship building among staff, members, program participants, and volunteers. The position supports the YMCA's mission by reflecting the characteristics of welcoming, nurturing, genuine, determined, and hopeful. It also ensures facility cleanliness and fitness equipment are ready for member use and looking their best.
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science/Physiology preferred or a minimum of two years proven experience working in a related field
- Prior supervisory experience
- Current Personal Training and Group Fitness Instructor certification by accredited national organization is a plus
- CPR and first aid certification course (30 days post-hire)
