Role: NACE CIP Level 2 Coating Inspector

Position Summary

We are seeking a qualified NACE Certified Coating Inspector (CIP Level 2) to perform advanced inspection and testing of protective coatings across industrial assets. This role ensures all coating applications meet industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications while maintaining the highest level of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and evaluate surface preparation and coating applications on pipelines, fabricated piping, storage tanks, and related infrastructure
  • Perform nondestructive and destructive testing (e.g., coating thickness, adhesion, and integrity)
  • Utilize advanced inspection techniques including waterjetting, blast cleaning, and liquid-applied coating evaluation
  • Verify compliance with company, industry, and manufacturer standards (including API and OSHA requirements)
  • Document inspection results using reports, charts, and digital systems; maintain accurate quality records
  • Identify coating defects and recommend corrective actions
  • Collaborate with welding inspectors, NDT personnel, contractors, and project teams
  • Prepare and deliver detailed inspection reports to clients, engineers, and management
  • Ensure all materials meet project specifications and compliance requirements
  • Conduct in-service inspections to assess corrosion, wear, and environmental impact

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of coating systems, materials, and surface preparation standards
  • Ability to analyze inspection data and provide actionable recommendations
  • Proficiency in documentation, reporting, and record-keeping systems
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Working knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements in industrial environments

Qualifications

  • Current NACE CIP Level 2 Certification (required)
  • Experience inspecting coatings in industrial, pipeline, or energy environments preferred
  • Familiarity with API standards and OSHA safety regulations

Work Environment

  • Field-based role with work performed in industrial and outdoor environments
  • May require travel, extended hours, and work in varying weather conditions
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required

Job Details

Pay: $55-$65/per hour, $175 per diem

Location: Hartford, MI

This is a temporary three week job with possible expansion up to 18 months. Start date around May 20th
