Take charge of the switchboard operations and alarm monitoring as the central communications hub for a busy healthcare facility in the Central Plains region of the United States. This full-time day shift role, Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 3 PM, involves managing emergency response dispatches aligned with standardized emergency codes and coordinating closely with 911 dispatchers during critical situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and dispatch internal emergency responses for facility safety alarms and codes.
  • Serve as the Communication Center during incident command activations for events such as mass casualty or severe weather emergencies.
  • Handle after-hours calls and route them appropriately.
  • Maintain departmental records and disseminate information efficiently using various communication methods including switchboard, public address systems, and electronic communications.
  • Utilize on-call systems accurately, interpreting schedules and adhering to telecommunications protocols.
  • Uphold privacy and security regulations related to Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Foster professional relationships with patients, team members, physicians, outside agencies, and the public.

Education and Experience:

  • No formal education or licensing is required; however, an Associate's Degree or higher in communications or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience with switchboard or dispatching is advantageous.
  • One year of office or healthcare employment experience is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent active listening skills across written, oral, and electronic communication.
  • Strong customer service background.
  • Moderate computer proficiency including keyboarding and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is beneficial.

Physical Requirements: This role involves primarily sedentary work with occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds and minimal standing or walking.
