We are seeking a Mechatronic Engineer to support and enhance automation across our cheese manufacturing operations. In this role, you will work directly with the systems that power our production-from raw milk processing to final packaging-ensuring our equipment runs efficiently, reliably, and safely.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of engineering and food production, using automation and control systems to improve performance and reduce downtime in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Troubleshoot and support process equipment including temperature and level sensors, VFDs, and packaging/printing machines used in cheese production
  • Analyze, modify, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems to improve uptime and system performance
  • Design, develop, and implement control systems (hardware and software) to support production needs
  • Update and maintain electrical and plant drawings using AutoCAD
  • Monitor system performance and support integration between plant control systems and company data systems
  • Perform ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems, including wiring, programming, and components
  • Write and maintain technical documentation such as system designs, requirements, and specifications
  • Support equipment upgrades and modifications, including sourcing parts and managing schematics
  • Partner with production and maintenance teams to continuously improve automation and product quality

By supporting the systems behind our production lines, you'll play a direct role in ensuring the consistency and quality of the cheese products we deliver every day.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automated Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with Allen-Bradley PLCs, drives, and HMI systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AutoCAD certification
  • One (1) year of experience with PLC, SCADA, or HMI programming
  • Experience reading and working with electrical schematics and blueprints

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of process control systems and their impact on production efficiency and downtime
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems within a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with food production processes and safety standards
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to design and modify control schematics using AutoCAD
  • Ability to analyze system data and implement improvements
  • Capable of working independently and managing multiple automation-related projects
  • Adaptable to evolving technology and production needs

Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the facility
  • Occasional bending, squatting, and physical movement
  • Comfortable working in varying conditions, including hot, cold, and wet production environments
