The Sanitation Associate is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of all production equipment, tools, and work areas within the food manufacturing facility. This includes performing cleaning duties in compliance with food safety standards and maintaining a safe and hygienic environment, particularly in a cold storage environment where temperature-controlled procedures are critical. The role ensures that production areas are cleaned and sanitized to prevent contamination and maintain quality standards for food production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sanitation of Equipment & Production Areas:

Clean and sanitize all production equipment, machinery, and tools, including conveyors, mixers, ovens, and cutting machines, ensuring all surfaces are free from food debris, oils, and contaminants.

  • Adherence to Food Safety Protocols:

Follow strict sanitation guidelines in line with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), USDA, FDA, and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) standards to ensure the food manufacturing facility remains in full compliance with industry regulations.

  • Cold Storage Environment Maintenance:

Perform cleaning tasks in a cold storage or refrigerated environment, adjusting cleaning techniques to address challenges of low temperatures, condensation, and frost buildup.

  • Cleaning and Disinfection:

Utilize cleaning chemicals and sanitizers according to safety and usage instructions to disinfect production equipment, floors, and walls. Ensure proper dilution and mixing of cleaning solutions.

  • Routine Inspections:

Inspect and report equipment, work areas, and storage facilities for cleanliness, identifying any issues that need addressing to prevent contamination or maintenance concerns.

  • Cleaning Records & Documentation:

Maintain accurate logs of cleaning activities, chemical usage, and maintenance tasks. Complete sanitation checklists, ensuring all areas are cleaned according to schedule and compliance requirements.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with production staff and supervisors to schedule cleaning tasks without disrupting the production process. Notify management of any discrepancies or areas requiring additional attention.

  • Safety and PPE Compliance:

Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety goggles, face shields, and protective clothing, especially when handling chemicals and operating in cold environments.

  • Waste Disposal:

Properly dispose of waste, cleaning chemicals, and other materials in line with company policies and environmental regulations.
