Position: Maintenance Lead - 1st Shift

Job Summary

Perform maintenance tasks requiring skills across multiple trades to keep machines, mechanical equipment, and facility structures in good working condition. Responsibilities include pie fitting, boiler work, insulating, welding, machining, and carpentry, as well as repairing electrical and mechanical equipment. Install, align, and balance new equipment, and perform general building repairs, including floors and stairs. May also provide oversight and training to maintenance and/or production staff within area of expertise, at the manager's discretion.

Pay: $32-$35 USD/HR

Schedule:

  • Monday-Thursday
  • 5am-3:30pm (Fridays as needed)
  • Flexibility is a must - schedule is subject to change based on production needs

Responsibilities

  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Provide administrative and supervisory support to the facility Maintenance Manager as necessary or directed.
  • Provide direction and training to maintenance/tool setting team as required.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.
  • Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Complies with all company safety policies and practices.
  • Enters and maintains data in the company's maintenance database system (C-Works) to insure accurate tracking of the key manufacturing assets of the company as well as tracking the requirements and results of scheduled preventive maintenance activities as well as unscheduled/emergency repairs.
  • Compliance with legal environmental and safety requirements of the area.
  • Know the environmental aspects of the area and its control.
  • Know the environmental impacts associated with their activities.
  • Follow all Environmental and Safety policies.
  • Comply with procedures, regulations, and instructions of environmental and safety programs.
  • Position may require periods of intense physical exertion in conditions of low to high temperatures and humidity.
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs (frequently) and up to 100 lbs (occasionally) to shoulder height. Sufficient hand/arm strength to apply 75 lbs of torque.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate). Relevant experience may be substituted for the education requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager or Plant manager.
  • Preferred Education & Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience as Maintenance support in manufacturing/production environment. Familiarity with and experience in the operation and/or repair of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems is a must.
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs (frequently) and up to 100 lbs (occasionally) to shoulder height. Sufficient hand/arm strength to apply 75 lbs of torque.

Physical Demands

  • Position may require periods of intense physical exertion in conditions of low to high temperatures and humidity.
  • Position requires the ability to stand, bend, and stretch over extended periods of time during a normal work shift.
