Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

Perform a variety of custodial and general housekeeping duties involving the care and cleaning of WTS buildings.

HOURS: 3-4 hours per day, weekdays depending on assignment. May include Saturday hours for library related assignments or special events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform general housekeeping duties involving the care and cleaning of campus buildings to possibly include offices, restrooms, classrooms, stairs & landings, hallways, lobbies & activity spaces, kitchens, dorm rooms and auditorium
• Clean, scrub, mop, carpet cleaning, floor polishing, walls, windows, woodwork, blinds, fixtures and furniture, vacuum carpets, entrance matting & other surfaces: sweep and clean walkways
• Clean & disinfect restrooms, empty trash containers & sanitize such containers to meet sanitary requirements
• Clean light fixtures, wash walls, clean ceiling tiles, dust, polish as cleaning needs dictate
• Report items requiring service or repair
• Monitor security of building on assigned shifts
• Exercise discretion, wisdom and confidentiality in use of assigned keys
• Operate vacuum machines: change attachments & perform routine maintenance on equipment (i.e. replace filters or bags)
• Maintain a teachable spirt throughout employment
• Communicate well with supervisors
• Maintain respect for staff and students while performing duties
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job can be expected to involve the following elements:

• Primarily indoor environment,
• Varied shift work,
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals & solutions.
• Standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending and reaching.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High school graduate
• Custodial experience beneficial but not required
• Ability to understand and read written and verbal instructions in English
• Basic computer and cell phone communications skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle heavy duty cleaning machines
• Ability to climb multiple stairs carrying loads if necessary
