JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for cleaning assigned areas which include surgery/PACU. Position requires the ability to be willing and able to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis as assigned by Manager. This position requires on call rotation with surgery cleaning responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must be able to learn and follow verbal and written instructions
- Must be able to share on call responsibilities
- Assembles materials and supplies from the supply room and transports them to the work area
- Cleans assigned areas such as patient rooms, offices, lobby areas and departments by washing furnishings, equipment, and mopping floors with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease
- Uses damp, disinfectant-treated cloths to dust window sills, blinds, floors, furniture, and equipment in an orderly fashion
- Scours and polishes sinks, tubs, mirrors, and similar equipment
- Replenishes supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items
- Requests help in moving heavy furniture and in turning mattresses. Reports any mechanical failures or negative conditions observed in assigned area to the manager
- Washes walls and ceilings using water, cleaning solutions, sponge, and cloths
- Gathers and disposes of trash, washes wastebaskets and relines with plastic bags
11. Collect and remove trash, hazardous waste and garbage to designated containers.
12. Clean work areas, equipment, walls, cabinets, sink, storage areas, and other areas assigned in accordance with established procedures in order to attempt to ensure a zero infection rate
13. Ability to work flexible hours, overtime and weekends as needed
14. Requires ability to be able to climb ladders to clean light fixtures and/or ceiling vents.
15. Maintain necessary cleaning supplies.
16. Responsible to wash outside and inside windows and screens
17. Perform other duties as assigned but not limited to the above.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Require full range of motion of continuous work, including; bending, stooping, lifting, reaching, good hand-eye coordination, standing, and walking for extensive time periods are required. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Ability to stand for long periods, lifts moderate weights, and pulls and pushes items. Requires ability to be able to climb ladders to clean light fixtures and/or ceiling vents. Normal corrected vision and hearing are required. Must have ability to work under stressful conditions and able to work irregular hours as needed. May require the ability to work under conditions of extreme cold/hot temperatures in the performance of duties.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Requires a valid driver's license
3. At least six months' prior experience in a hospital setting preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Ability to follow written and oral instructions
2. Ability to interact with patients, visitors, and employees
3. Ability to follow policies and procedures to minimize infection
4. Must know how to use common housecleaning implements, such as mops, scouring pads, to keep areas clean and well-serviced
