Description
We're seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing construction organization and play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting. This is a hands-on, technical accounting role for someone who enjoys owning their work, digging into the details, and partnering closely with project and finance teams.
You'll be a trusted accounting expert with a strong general ledger foundation, exposure to project accounting, and experience supporting month-end close in a construction environment. This role is ideal for a seasoned accountant who wants to apply sound judgment, improve processes, and make a visible impact.
What You'll Do
General Ledger & Accounting Operations
- Own assigned areas of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and GAAP compliance
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications with precision
- Perform detailed account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies
- Review account activity to identify unusual trends or issues requiring further analysis
Month-End Close Support
- Support month-end close activities under the direction of the Senior Project Analyst
- Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
- Ensure assigned close tasks are completed accurately and on time
Cash Flow Management
- Monitor and track cash activity with proper recording and classification
- Assist with cash flow reporting and identification of timing differences
- Support analysis of cash flow trends and variances for internal reporting
Project Accounting & WIP Support
- Review job cost, WIP, and margin data for accuracy
- Identify inconsistencies between project data and financial reporting and assist with resolution
- Partner with project teams to ensure alignment between operational and financial data
Audit, Compliance & Controls
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor requests
- Maintain organized, supportable accounting records
- Ensure adherence to company accounting policies and GAAP
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting accuracy, efficiency, and consistency
- Support process improvements and standardization initiatives
- Serve as a technical accounting resource for internal stakeholders
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required)
- 4-7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Construction industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong general ledger and account reconciliation background
- Experience supporting (but not owning) month-end close
- Exposure to job cost accounting, WIP, and construction financial processes
- Experience with cash flow tracking and reporting
- Proficiency with ERP systems (Sage Intacct, Sage 300, or similar preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
Why Join Us
- Well-established construction organization with a great culture.

- Collaborative finance team and strong project partnership
- Opportunity to improve processes and influence how work gets done
- Competitive compensation and benefits package
