What You’ll Do

  • Provide companionship, emotional support, and safety for patients
  • Engage patients in light activities such as conversation, reading, or quiet reflection
  • Offer peace of mind to families knowing their loved one is in capable, caring hands

How On-Call Volunteering Works

  • Volunteers are placed on an on-call schedule for their local area (within about 1 hour of their home base) based on their availability
  • Volunteers are required to provide support on a recurring basis for their scheduled on-call shifts.
    • For example, if you are scheduled for Wednesdays, you may be called to provide respite on any Wednesday when a caregiver request occurs
  • While unforeseen circumstances may occasionally prevent participation, regular commitment to your scheduled shifts is expected

Why Volunteer

  • Make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families
  • Flexible, on-call schedule tailored to your personal availability
  • Gain experience in healthcare, social work, or volunteer support programs

Requirements

  • Compassion, reliability, and a caring attitude
  • Completion of volunteer training program
  • Background check and TB test
