Description

Join a dedicated healthcare team as an LPN Unit Secretary, providing essential administrative and clinical support in a busy inpatient and outpatient setting within the Southern Gulf Coast region. This role involves managing communications, coordinating patient information, and assisting nursing staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Professionally answer and route telephone calls, taking accurate messages as needed.
  • Greet and direct visitors with warmth and professionalism.
  • Support caregivers including CNAs, RNs, LPNs, physicians, and department leadership.
  • Retrieve and ensure timely review of diagnostic results by nursing staff.
  • Initiate and manage patient charts for admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Enter patient data such as admission details and physician orders into the hospital computer system.
  • Maintain a clean, organized nurse's station and supply room, ensuring all materials are well-stocked and orderly.
  • Assist with staffing coordination under the guidance of the Director or RN, posting patient care assignments each shift.
  • Update bulletin boards and binders with schedules, memos, and educational materials.
  • Recognize patient care alarms promptly and notify appropriate personnel.
  • Respond quickly to patient requests and ensure call lights and telemetry monitoring are continuously attended.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of medical and clerical supplies as well as patient nourishment.
  • Create a welcoming environment for patients and verify additional information as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and values of the organization.

Education & Certifications

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.

Experience & Requirements

Previous experience in a healthcare administrative or clinical support role is beneficial. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are essential.
