General Statement of Duties

The Administrative Intern position is a fulltime, 239day teachercontract role offered as a one to twoyear annual assignment. The role is designed to provide aspiring administrators with handson experience in the daily duties and responsibilities of a secondary school administrator. These responsibilities include supporting students, collaborating with teachers and fellow administrators to support school programs and promote student success. Administrative Interns are expected to manage and address student behavior; support and implement district and sitebased learning initiatives; manage and execute safety and crisisresponse plans; actively participate as members of the school improvement team; facilitate professional development; and regularly oversee afterschool extracurricular activities.

The Administrative Intern position is not a permanent assignment and may not exceed two years in duration. Throughout the internship, interns are encouraged to actively seek and apply for assistant principal positions. If an Administrative Intern does not secure an administrative position within the twoyear timeframe, they will be required to return to a 10month teaching position for which they are licensed and endorsed.

Essential Duties

The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will be required to actively support all aspects of the school's administrative and academic goals and be prepared to participate in all other duties as assigned by the principal.
  • As a normal function of their daily duties, the successful candidate should expect to cover and support all before and after school events, including evening activities.
  • The successful candidate will be involved in student behavioral management and discipline.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Three years of successful licensed teaching.
  • Completed at least 12 hours in an administrative licensure program.
  • Endorsement or pending endorsement in K-12 Administration and Supervision.
  • This position is open to internal HCPS candidates only.

Additional Information

This posting is for the 2026-27 school year with a July 20, 2026, contractual start date. Minimum annual starting salary*:

  • $66,240 (Bachelors)
  • $69,419. (Masters)

The annual salary provided is based on the current year's pay plan. The 2026-27 salary will be determined after the financial plan is approved in Spring 2026.
